Why Taiwan?

Taiwan may not be in most people's to-visit list because not many know of what it has to offer. Additionally, entry to Taiwan requires us, Philippine passport holders, to get a visa first.

But Taiwan is one vibrant destination of rich culture truly worth visiting.

If you interested in religious heritage, you can check out Longshan Temple 龍山寺, a famous old temple found in Taipei.

If you consider yourself a gourmand who is on the lookout for night-market meals, you will not be disappointed with the numerous street markets offering various finger foods. One of which is Shilin Night Market (士林夜市), one of the largest night markets found also in Taipei.

If historical landmarks and cultural sites are what you are after, you can visit Martyr's Shrine (忠烈祠), a temple dedicated to approximately 330,000 men who gave their lives before the establishment of the Republic of China. And/or the National Palace Museum (國立故宮博物院) that houses one of the best collections of Chinese art in the world.
